Between 2019 and 2020, as my first project at the Comisión de Operación y Fomento de Actividades Académicas of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (COFAA-IPN), I migrated its institutional website to MODX. I adopted IPN’s component library, transferred the information and documents from the previous portal, and built custom components with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

The previous website had an outdated design that did not follow IPN’s institutional website guidelines. It did not adapt to mobile devices and had accessibility problems. The redesign required migrating all the existing information, documents and links.

I migrated the website to MODX and used IPN’s component library. I attended a course at the Edificio Inteligente in Zacatenco and built custom components for COFAA’s content needs.

Content migration and component development.

  1. Training and institutional design standards

I attended a course at the Edificio Inteligente in Zacatenco and used IPN’s component library to align the portal with the Institute’s other websites.

  2. Website migration to MODX

I migrated the institutional website to the MODX CMS and integrated COFAA’s content with IPN’s components.

  3. Information, documents and links

I migrated all the information from the previous website, including documents, links, and Word and Excel files.

  4. Custom HTML, CSS and JavaScript components

I built custom components to meet specific content needs, extending the institutional library with my own front-end development.

  5. Former executive secretaries’ photography

Good-quality images were not available for every former executive secretary. I photographed their portraits with my phone in the secretary’s office, edited the images, and cropped them to the same size for a consistent gallery.

IPN institutional design

The website was migrated to MODX with IPN’s component library and the components I developed for COFAA.

Content and documents migrated

The redesign included the previous website’s content and document resources. Much of that information remains on the current portal.

Edited photographs

The former executive secretaries’ gallery gained consistently edited and cropped photographs, including those I took to fill gaps in the available digital material.

The current website retains the structure and much of the information I migrated. The homepage and other content have been updated since my delivery in 2019–2020.
